I heard about the Seoul Tour through a friend and thought it sounded interesting. The tour included a trip to the 63 Building where we could visit the aquarium, wax museum and sky view, as well as a lunch and cruise on the Han River.
On Saturday we met up with the two men in charge of the trip as well as several other Westerners and proceeded to head to the 63 Building. Our group mainly spent time in the aquarium and sky view where we had a wonderful time taking photos and seeing the animals. Even though I have visited aquariums before it was interesting seeing the types of animals from a different country. One of the exhibits even had a prehistoric fish that had been previously thought to be extinct. However, new ones had been found and South Korea¡¯s aquarium had some of the only ones in the world. From there we went to the sky view which offered a panoramic view of Seoul that allowed me to see the entire city from a different perspective. The deck also contained artwork by various Korean artists and gave me a glimpse of the modern artistic culture.
Next, we went on a cruise on the Han River. Like the aerial view of the sky deck this gave me a different view of Seoul: that of a peaceful city on the river. Although Seoul is a bustling modern city, it has a historical side as well, one that is easy to see along the river.
This trip also allowed me to meet people from all over the world. My friends are mainly from America so it was interesting to be able to meet people from different countries. In addition, my friend and I live in a medium sized city in southern Korea but the other people lived everywhere from rural towns to actually residing in Seoul. Through them I could further expand my idea of Korea. We also all held different jobs, from student to hagwon and public school teachers to working in a business. This tour helped me discover more of what it means to be a foreigner in Korea.
Although I want to see as much of the country as I can, I often either don¡¯t know which places are good to visit or if I do, can¡¯t afford to visit all of them. The Seoul Travel Pass has many amazing discounts and allows me to see sides of Seoul that I would otherwise be unable to see.
