DoubleTree by Hilton – the global hotel brand that surprised passers-by on streets worldwide with its chocolate chip cookies in 2014 – is now inviting travelers to share its delectable cookies with loved ones, delivered as gifts in unique and artistically designed collectible cookie tins. From February 9, 2015, guests at six selected DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in China will be able to bring DoubleTree¡¯s signature cookies home in specially-created cookie tins that are representative of the destinations they visited. This cookie tin launch in China is the start of a wider global campaign where the brand will unveil signature tins at popular worldwide destinations.
¡°At DoubleTree by Hilton, we know that the little things mean everything when it comes to a great travel experience. To deliver special comforts and acts of kindness to each guest, we strive to welcome them with our signature warm chocolate chip cookie upon their arrival at our hotels all over the world,¡± said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. ¡°With the launch of the DoubleTree by Hilton collectible cookie tins in China, that warm welcome can now endure beyond the walls of the hotel, as guests can bring cookie tins back as tokens of care for loved ones. In doing so, they can share the joy and warmth of the travel experience through a unique gift that is representative of their journeys.¡±
DoubleTree hotels in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Haitang Bay and Hainan Qixianling will be the first six Chinese destinations featured on the cookie tins. Additional global destinations will be announced at a later date. The DoubleTree by Hilton cookie tin artwork is designed to reflect the selected city¡¯s culture and landscape, which is distinctive and instantly recognizable on the tin. In China, design elements include the Temple of Heaven, the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Canton Tower, stilted houses, beachscapes and mountains. The first six destinations were selected for the initial launch as they are located in China¡¯s gateway cities and most popular destinations. Another six destinations in China will join the collection in June.
¡°We developed the idea of giving unique cookie tins as gifts because in this part of the region, a cookie tin is not just a container. It can also be a medium that transmits love and memories between family and friends,¡± said Bruce McKenzie, senior vice president, Greater China and Mongolia, Hilton Worldwide. ¡°From favorite stickers, to important letters and stamps, to postcards from our friends, these little things that we put into cookie tins have special meaning to our lives. And it is this philosophy of a commitment to the little things that matter that really makes DoubleTree by Hilton unique – which is why we are so excited about this launch. Even more exciting is the fact that purchase of these cookie tins is not limited to guests at the hotels, but is open to the public!¡±
To celebrate the launch of the DoubleTree by Hilton collectible cookie tins in China, DoubleTree by Hilton will also host an online game via Sina Weibo from January 26, 2015 to February 16, 2015, with prizes available for participants. The goal of the online game will be to collect as many falling ¡°cookies¡± as possible in a virtual tin. Participants will aim to score as many points as possible in the designated time and share their scores on Weibo to win additional points. The grand prize for the campaign will be awarded to the top scorer, which consists of a three-day/two-night stay at one of the six DoubleTree by Hilton China hotels featured in the initial cookie tins launch, along with a spa package and dinner. The runner-up prizes will include vouchers for food and drinks at various DoubleTree hotels and collectible cookie tins, with prize winners announced on the brand¡¯s official Weibo account after the contest closes.
