On Tuesday 1st April 2014, eight climbers were treated to a big surprise, aworld-first flash mob 134 meters above the Sydney Harbour in a salute toApril¡¯s Fool¡¯s Day.
The unsuspecting climbers began ascending the iconic bridge for what theybelieved to be a traditional BridgeClimb experience. When they reached the topthey were surrounded from all angles by a 30 person strong flash mob.
There were big arms, canons and spirit fingers as the troupe launched into asynchronised routine to songs by Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Australia¡¯sown Justice Crew at multiple locations on the Bridge summit.
Sydney-sider Nina King, one of the eight unsuspecting climbers said, "Ican¡¯t believe we just witnessed a flash mob at the top of the Sydney HarbourBridge. That was the funniest thing I¡¯ve ever seen.
"I couldn¡¯t help but try to join in the dance, so I was delighted when themob got us involved by showing us the moves and then giving us the chance to doit with them. I will never forget that hilarious moment."
Once the dance steps concluded, the ensemble dispersed and the eighthonouree flash mobbers resumed the journey of 1,332 steps along the impressivesteel structure. Back on The Bridge Climb, they enjoyed unobstructed vistasspanning as far east as Bondi and as far west as The Blue Mountains.
