TTN Commemorative Exhibition for Renovating Wakasa History Museum Part I
¡°Flowers in Buddhist paintings¡ªSolemnity in large Buddhist paintings¡±

On Friday, July 18, the Wakasa History Museum will reopen as an historical, cultural and tourism center in Wakasa.


¡¡In commemoration of the reopening of the museum, the special exhibition ¡°Flowers in Buddhist paintings¡ªSolemnity in large Buddhist paintings¡± will be held.
¡¡This exhibition will introduce many Buddhist paintings that are not usually exhibited to the public. These paintings include large Buddhist works, such as mandala, that have been handed down in the Wakasa region, and paintings with distinctive features such as the Acala the God of Fire or Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshwara.


¡¡Furthermore, Buddhist paintings that gorgeously decorate the halls and pagodas when certain memorial services are held will be shown to the public, such as a mandala from Myotsuji Temple, which was designated as a national treasure building, and Buddhist paintings from Haga Temple and Mantokuji Temple.

Period: July 18 (Fri) – August 31 (Sun), 2014 * Closed August 18 (Mon) and 19 (Tue) during the exhibition period.
Fees: Adults: 300 yen * Free of charge for high school students or younger, visitors aged 70 or older, and visitors with a physical disability certificate. * Group discount is available for groups with at least 20 members.
