Generator’s only hotel and hostel combination is located in the trendy Gracia district, close by the Eixample district, in an iconic office building that used to house the Spanish National Gas Company offices.

True to all Generators, inspiration for the design has been taken from Barcelona itself. In the lobby sits a 23-foot high internal pavilion inspired by the city’s nautical history and designed by local company Woouf  and dubbed ‘The Bird Cage’, through which a feature staircase winds its way up to a glass-balconied mezzanine. Above the ornate Hungarian concrete floor tiles of the lounge float more than 300 vibrant paper lanterns designed by Julie Plottier and inspired by Barcelona’s annual Fiesta Major de Gracia.

DesignAgency collaborated with local architects, suppliers and artists to create unique super graphics, fantastic light fixtures, hanging lanterns and signature “G” sculptures, making Generator Barcelona a tapestry of layers and styles. Work your way up from the en-suite shared rooms to the deluxe doubles at the hotel on the top floors and complete with sunny private terraces. If you want to splurge, book the penthouse suite with a 30 m2 wrap around balcony and stunning views of the Sagrada Familia and the Mediterranean.
