And yet—proceeding now, to introduce myself positively—I am both a town traveller and a country traveller, and am always on the road. Figuratively speaking, I travel for the great house of Human Interest Brothers, and have rather a large connection in the fancy goods way. Literally speaking, I am always wandering here and there from my rooms in Covent-garden, London—now about the city streets: now, about the country by-roads—seeing many little things, and some great things, which, because they interest me, I think may interest others. ±×·³¿¡µµ ºÒ±¸Çϰí, ÀÌÁ¦ Á¦ ¼Ò°³¸¦ ±àÁ¤ÀûÀ¸·Î ÇÏÀÚ¸é, Àú´Â µµ½Ã ¿©ÇàÀÚÀÎ µ¿½Ã¿¡ ½Ã°ñ ¿©ÇàÀÚÀ̸ç, Ç×»ó ¿©Çà ÁßÀÔ´Ï´Ù. ºñÀ¯ÀûÀ¸·Î ¸»ÇÏÀÚ¸é, Àú´Â ÈÞ¸Õ ÀÎÅÍ·¹½ºÆ® ºê¶ó´õ½ºÀÇ ´ëÀúÅÃÀ» ¿©ÇàÇϰí ÀÖÀ¸¸ç, È·ÁÇÑ »óǰµé°úµµ ÀθÆÀÌ ³Ð½À´Ï´Ù. ¸» ±×´ë·Î, Àú´Â Ç×»ó ·±´ø ÄÚº¥Æ®°¡µç¿¡ ÀÖ´Â Á¦ ¹æ¿¡¼ À̰÷Àú°÷À» ¶°µ¹°í ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. Áö±ÝÀº µµ½Ã °Å¸®¿¡ ´ëÇØ, ½Ã°ñ ±æ°¡¿¡ ´ëÇØ, ¸¹Àº ÀÛÀº °Íµé°ú ¸ÚÁø °ÍµéÀ» º¸°í ÀÖ½À´Ï´Ù. ±×°ÍµéÀÌ Àú¸¦ Èï¹Ì·Ó°Ô ÇØÁֱ⠶§¹®¿¡, Àú´Â ´Ù¸¥ »ç¶÷µéÀÇ Èï¹Ì¸¦ ²ø ¼ö ÀÖ´Ù°í »ý°¢ÇÕ´Ï´Ù. O reader, haply turning this page by the fireside at Home, and hearing the night wind rumble in the chimney, that slight obstruction was the uppermost fragment of the Wreck of the Royal Charter, Australian trader and passenger ship, Homeward bound, that struck here on the terrible morning of the twenty-sixth of this October, broke into three parts, went down with her treasure of at least five hundred human lives, and has never stirred since! ¿À, µ¶ÀÚ ¿©·¯ºÐ, ÀÌ ÆäÀÌÁö¸¦ ȨÀÇ ³·Ô°¡¿¡¼ ÃæºÐÈ÷ ³Ñ±â°í, ±¼¶Ò¿¡¼ ¹ã¹Ù¶÷ÀÌ ¿ì¸£¸ª°Å¸®´Â °ÍÀ» µéÀ¸¸ç, ±× ¾à°£ÀÇ Àå¾Ö¹°Àº À̹ø 10¿ù 26ÀÏ ¾Æħ¿¡ À̰÷¿¡ ºÎµúÈù ¿Õ½Ç ÇåÀåÀÇ ³Æļ±, È£ÁÖ ¹«¿ª¾÷ÀÚ ¹× ¿©°´¼±, È¨¿öµåÇàÀÇ °¡Àå ÀºÎºÐ Á¶°¢À̾ú½À´Ï´Ù, ¼¼ ºÎºÐÀ¸·Î ºÎ¼Á³½À´Ï´Ù. Àû¾îµµ 500¸íÀÇ ÀθíÀ» °¡Áø º¸¹°À» °¡Áö°í ³»·Á°¬Áö¸¸, ±× ÀÌÈÄ·Î ÇÑ ¹øµµ ÈçµéÁö ¾Ê¾Ò½À´Ï´Ù!

It lately happened that I found myself rambling about the scenes among which my earliest days were passed; scenes from which I departed when I was a child, and which I did not revisit until I was a man. This is no uncommon chance, but one that befalls some of us any day; perhaps it may not be quite uninteresting to compare notes with the reader respecting an experience so familiar and a journey so uncommercial. ÃÖ±Ù¿¡ Àú´Â Á¦ ¾î¸° ½ÃÀýÀÌ Áö³ª°¬´ø Àå¸éµé, Á¦°¡ ¾î·ÈÀ» ¶§ ¶°³µ´ø Àå¸éµé, ±×¸®°í Á¦°¡ ¾î¸¥ÀÌ µÉ ¶§±îÁö ´Ù½Ã µ¹¾Æ°¡Áö ¾Ê¾Ò´ø Àå¸éµé¿¡ ´ëÇØ Ⱦ¼³¼ö¼³ÇÏ´Â Á¦ ÀÚ½ÅÀ» ¹ß°ßÇß½À´Ï´Ù. À̰ÍÀº ÈçÄ¡ ¾ÊÀº ¿ì¿¬ÀÌ ¾Æ´Ï¶ó, ¿ì¸® Áß ¸î ¸í¿¡°Ô ¾ðÁ¨°¡ ´ÚÄ¥ ¼ö ÀÖ´Â ±âȸÀÔ´Ï´Ù; ¾Æ¸¶µµ ¸Å¿ì Ä£¼÷ÇÏ°í ºñ»ó¾÷ÀûÀÎ ¿©Á¤À» Á¸ÁßÇÏ´Â µ¶ÀÚ¿Í ³ëÆ®¸¦ ºñ±³ÇÏ´Â °ÍÀº ²Ï Èï¹Ì·ÓÁö ¾ÊÀ» °ÍÀÔ´Ï´Ù.

I call my boyhood¡¯s home (and I feel like a Tenor in an English Opera when I mention it) Dullborough.
